The Heritage Foundation presentation of the Clare Boothe Luce award to Rush Limbaugh, honoring conservative leadership in America and the world.
Clare Boothe Luce: conservative statesman, counselor, ambassador, member of Congress, author, actress, orator, philanthropist, scholar, playwright, a world view shaped by the Scriptures, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the works of the Founding Fathers, faith in God and her country, knowledge that America has a unique mission to perpetuate the ideals of free enterprise and individual liberty. This was our colleague and fellow heritage trustee, Clare Boothe Luce.
By resolution of the board of trustees of the Heritage Foundation, Rush Limbaugh is hereby awarded the Clare Boothe Luce award.
During the last half of the 20th century, as intellectuals of the right led conservativism out of the wilderness, millions of other conservatives hesitated at its border.
More than any other individual, Rush Limbaugh possessed the voice to articulate their ideals and the confidence that invited them to come into full light and full power, and they came. By thousands, and then by millions, conservatives rallied to your daily radio conversation. Your example continually reminds us that nothing generates more power than the truth, clearly and plainly spoken. With keen scrutiny you have confronted the forces of political correctness and exposed their warped ideology. With unfailing commitment to principle you have brought leaven and balance to news media that tolerate anything except conservatives in their newsrooms. And with unabashed patriotism you have taught millions of Americans to stand up for their country, cherish her liberty, and defend her founding principles.
For your achievement in giving conservativism a voice that is heard and heeded in every major corner of our nation, the Heritage Foundation gratefully salutes Rush Limbaugh and bestows on you our highest honor, the Clare Boothe Luce award. |
